International Women's Day 2022: #BreakTheBias

This International Women's Day, take a little time out to celebrate how far we've come but also reflect on how far we've yet to go until we can truly say we've broken the bias. When we think about the women we love, admire and respect most in our lives, we'll probably think of a mother or a grandmother - maybe an aunt, or our favourite teacher when we were younger. We love, admire and respect those women for the impact they had on us, maybe not fully comprehending at the time that things weren't any easier for them than they are for us: after all, juggling children, work, and their own lives in a climate of gender bias and inequality is no small feat! Let's raise our children in a world that is even more progressive and even more inclusive than ours and the generations' before us: a world where nothing is impossible because you are a woman, a world free of stereotypes and discrimination, and a world that can be proud of its diversity.

Even the smallest steps can make a real difference. Read on as we share four amazing ways to get involved:

1. Share, share, share!

The theme of this year's International Women's Day is #BreaktheBias, designed to celebrate women's achievements whilst raising awareness against stigma and bias, taking action to combat inequality. Show your support by sharing (or re-sharing other people's posts) on social and joining the discussion.

2. Include everyone in the discussion

International Women's Day is all about inclusivity, so remember not to isolate men or those beyond the gender binary. Everyone deserves to contribute and have their voice heard in a discussion that relates to the eradication of stereotypes. Don't be shy - go ahead and get your non-female friends, relatives and colleagues involved!

3. Shop female-owned

As a female-owned business with an all-female team, we know the importance of empowering women in and out of the workplace. One amazing way to uplift women on this International Women's Day is to seek out female-owned businesses and show your support. It took a lot of courage for me to take the plunge and set out on my own six years ago, growing my all-female team (and my range of products!) as I went along.

4. Acknowledge the women in your life

Sometimes, all it takes is a simple acknowledgement to make a difference: an acknowledgment that they've done a good job, an acknowledgement that they're loved, an acknowledgement that you appreciate them. Whether it's your Mum, Sister, colleague, bestie, or partner - why not send them a text, give them a call, or post them a card to let them know you're thinking of them this International Women's Day?

So, ladies - on International Women's Day and every other day - keep reaching for your goals, keep overcoming obstacles and keep being unapologetically YOU.
